Special Programs

Special Session
Half of the oral presentation on Tuesday, October 16 will be devoted to a special issue:
"What are the killer defects that determine the performance of wide-bandgap semiconductor devices/systems ?"
This question is commonly shared among majority of researchers and engineers in this field. In order to develop wide-bandgap semiconductor technology to practical industry, an essential solution for this question is inevitable by stimulating discussions among different technical stages. With several invited and contributed papers related to this question together, we will deeply discuss it from different yet related viewpoints such as crystal growth, device fabrication, characterization and application requirements. Participants from a variety of technical stages will be much welcome.

Industrial Session
Commercially available technologies for materials, devices and fabrication equipment, as well as recent market research and other industrial information will be presented in the Industrial Session on Thursday evening, October 15.

Rump Session
Thursday evening, October 18 is devoted to Rump Sessions for open and in-depth discussion of specific topics. At present, two topics listed below are planned.
"Comparison of SiC, GaN, and Si for Power Devices"
Organizers: T.P. Chow (Rensselaer Polytechnic Inst., USA) S. Yoshida (Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd., Japan)

"Advanced Understanding of SiC MOS Interface"
Organizer: H. Yano (Nara Inst. Sci. & Tech., Japan)
Several proposals of relevant topics and organizers are still welcome at the following address:
Hajime Okumura AIST, Japan
